Job Title: Strategic Communications Manager – Unhoused Response (Limited Duration/Acting-in-Capacity) Role Summary: Lead the strategic communications effort for homelessness initiatives, building community understanding, engaging diverse audiences, and coordinating consistent messaging across six city departments while strengthening media and partnership relationships. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for the Homeless Response program, including storytelling across the housing continuum. - Coordinate messaging and campaigns across six city departments (Homeless Services, Public Space, Public Information, etc.). - Build and maintain relationships with local media, community leaders, and state partners. - Produce multi‑channel content (press releases, blog posts, social media, multimedia, newsletters) and manage campaign execution. - Facilitate consistent, coordinated messaging on homelessness, livability, and the city’s response. - Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing timely analysis and guidance. - Collaborate with cross‑departmental teams to respond to complex or sensitive public issues. Required Skills: - Strategic communications and public relations expertise. - Media relations and proactive storytelling. - Cross‑departmental or cross‑organizational coordination. - Multi‑channel content creation and campaign execution. - Strong written and verbal communication. - Ability to address complex, sensitive public issues. - Creativity, collaborative mindset, and stakeholder engagement.
