Job Title: Data Science & AI Lead
Role Summary: Drive the design, governance, and evolution of data, machine learning, and AI foundations within a B2B SaaS AI platform. Operate as a senior technical lead, translating product vision into scalable, production‑ready systems, while mentoring emerging talent and shaping team capabilities.
Expectations:
- Own end‑to‑end data, ML, and AI architecture from ingestion to insights.
- Lead technical strategy, standards, and quality practices across data engineering, ML engineering, and applied AI.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and executive leadership to convert business challenges into actionable ML/AI solutions.
- Balance rapid delivery with long‑term architectural integrity in a fast‑moving startup environment.
- Participate hands‑on in early stages while progressively adding leadership and mentorship responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define data schemas, governance policies, and lifecycle management for scalable, enterprise‑ready datasets.
- Architect and implement production‑grade ML pipelines, model deployment, and monitoring workflows.
- Set quality, testing, and documentation standards for data and ML artifacts.
- Mentor and guide junior data/ML engineers, establishing a culture of ownership and best practices.
- Assess staffing needs, recruit, and onboard new talent to fill capability gaps.
- Engage with cross‑functional teams to prioritize features and align technical solutions with product goals.
Required Skills:
- Proven senior experience (Lead or Manager level) in data science, machine learning, or AI.
- Strong hands‑on expertise in data engineering, ML model development, and end‑to‑end pipeline production.
- Experience with data governance, reliability, and scalability in production environments.
- Ability to deliver architectural direction while remaining implementation‑level under emerging needs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across engineering, product, and executive roles.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
- Certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms, or ML engineering preferred but not mandatory.
