Job Description
Job Title: Veterinary Student Internship Role Summary: Assist veterinary professionals in a small clinic setting, gaining hands‑on experience in general practice, surgical procedures, hospitalization, and specialized ultrasound diagnostics. Provide support under direct supervision in patient examinations, treatment preparations, and clinic operations. Expectations: - Enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program. - Commit to the full duration of the internship (typically 3–6 months). - Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, professionalism, and respect for client confidentiality. - Maintain punctuality and reliability, and actively participate in clinic meetings and educational sessions. Key Responsibilities: - Aid in physical examinations and routine health checks of companion animals. - Prepare patients for imaging (radiographs, ultrasound) and minor surgical procedures. - Assist with anesthesia monitoring and post‑operative care under supervision. - Support surgical teams during procedures, including instrument handling and patient positioning. - Operate diagnostic equipment (radiography, ultrasound) within safety protocols. - Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of clinical areas and instruments. - Assist in the preparation and management of medical records and client communication. - Help with basic laboratory tests and sample collection. - Contribute to inventory management and the organization of clinic supplies. Required Skills: - Basic animal handling and restraint techniques. - Knowledge of veterinary anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology fundamentals. - Strong communication skills with clients and team members. - Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures. - Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. - Time‑management and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment. - Proficiency in using veterinary software or electronic medical records (preferred). Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrollment in a recognized veterinary medicine degree program. - No prior professional experience required. - Willingness to complete any necessary safety and hygiene training provided by the clinic. - Ability to obtain a formal internship completion certificate upon successful completion.
