Job title: Vice President, Legal
Role Summary: Senior executive responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, and compliance functions across a dynamic marketplace and product organization. Provides strategic legal counsel, manages corporate governance, and leads risk mitigation in a fast-paced, technology‑driven environment.
Expactations: • Lead the legal strategy for a rapidly expanding marketplace.
• Partner with product, marketing, data, HR and operations to embed compliance and legal considerations into business decisions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, secure intellectual property, manage board governance, and oversee risk, disputes, and litigation.
• Develop and maintain internal legal processes, policies, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal & Regulatory Strategy: Regulate ticketing, resale, consumer protection, pricing transparency, and data privacy.
2. Product & Marketing Review: Approve user flows, marketing claims, press releases, and promotional materials.
3. Intellectual Property: Manage IP portfolio, trademarks, copyrights, patents, and licensing.
4. Corporate Governance: Counsel board and executives; handle corporate records, resolutions, and shareholder matters; coordinate with outside counsel.
5. Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, negotiate vendor, partner, and strategic agreements.
6. Employment & HR: Collaborate on employee relations, investigations, and compliance initiatives.
7. Risk & Litigation: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, manage pre‑litigation disputes, and oversee litigation and regulatory inquiries.
8. Workflow Development: Design and maintain internal legal and compliance processes and documentation.
Required Skills: • Strong legal analysis and strategic thinking. • Proficiency in technology, e‑commerce, or marketplace legal issues. • Expertise in regulatory compliance (ticketing, consumer, privacy). • Commercial contract drafting and negotiation. • IP strategy management. • Corporate governance knowledge. • Leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and independent decision‑making. • Excellent written and verbal communication.
Required Education & Certifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree. • Active license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction. • Minimum 10 years of combined law firm and in‑house experience, preferably with early‑stage growth‑stage technology or marketplace firms.
