Job Description

**Job title:** Firewall Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, implement, and maintain the agency’s firewall and related security infrastructure across on‑prem and cloud environments. Oversee lifecycle management of Cisco, Azure, Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), VPNs, intrusion prevention systems, and network monitoring platforms. **Expectations:** - 6‑month W2 contract, primarily remote with occasional on‑site visits for equipment pickup and team meetings. - 5+ years of hands‑on firewall management experience. **Key Responsibilities:** - Architect and deploy firewall solutions (Cisco ASA, Azure Firewall, Zscaler) to meet security requirements. - Configure, test, and administer VPNs, IPS, and ZPA for secure remote access. - Manage and tune Cisco FMC (Firewall Management Center) for policy, reporting, and alerting. - Perform vulnerability assessments, security audits, and incident response related to firewall assets. - Collaborate with network and security teams to integrate monitoring tools and ensure log correlation. - Apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes following change‑management procedures. **Required Skills:** - Enterprise firewall administration (Cisco, Azure, Zscaler, VPN, IPS). - FMC (Firewall Management Center) configuration and maintenance. - Strong scripting or automation proficiency (PowerShell, Python, or similar). - Troubleshooting network connectivity, performance, and security incidents. **Required Education & Certifications:** - CCNA or CCNP Security (or equivalent). ---
