Job Description
**Job Title** Director NERC Compliance – Utilities **Role Summary** Direct the overall management of the company’s NERC compliance program, ensuring adherence to CIP, 693, and PJM matrix requirements. Lead compliance teams, oversee audit readiness, translate regulatory changes into actionable program requirements, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and reliability across all utility operations. **Expectations** - Provide day‑to‑day decision authority on NERC compliance matters. - Maintain the organization’s audit‑ready status for internal and external audits. - Develop and execute training, communications, and mitigation plans related to NERC standards. - Represent the organization in regulatory and industry forums, ensuring timely responses to all regulatory requests. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Lead Corporate CIP and Reliability Compliance teams, assigning resources for technical or administrative measures and performing program quality checks. 2. Interpret and translate NERC standards and updates into actionable program requirements, ensuring they are implemented before effective dates. 3. Manage all aspects of the internal NERC compliance monitoring program, including audit data processes, compliance documentation, and evidence management. 4. Coordinate and submit all scheduled requests, self‑certifications, data submittals, spot checks, and other data requirements. 5. Review new NERC standards and requirements; advise stakeholders on changes and develop compliance plans. 6. Develop and deliver company‑wide NERC compliance training for SMEs and operational staff. 7. Investigate potential non‑compliance issues, coordinate mitigation plans with SMEs and upper management, and oversee resolution to maintain continuous compliance. 8. Direct participation in reliability audits conducted by FERC, NERC, PJM, and other regulators, including preparation of RSAWs, mock audits, and external audit coordination. 9. Maintain communication with regulators (FERC, NERC, RF, PJM) and industry groups (EEI, NATF) and respond to alerts and notifications. 10. Manage the DLC compliance management system to track compliance status and evidence across CIP and 693 programs. 11. Participate in or coordinate relevant regulatory and industry meetings and compliance calls. 12. Leading internal controls development to strengthen compliance posture across all regulatory requirements. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of NERC CIP, 693 standards and PJM matrix. - Strong audit and compliance program management experience in the electric utility sector. - Proven leadership and team‑management skills. - Excellent stakeholder communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities. - Competence in interpreting regulatory updates and translating them into operational processes. - Proficiency in data analysis, audit preparation, and mock‑audit execution. - Strategic planning, project management, and risk assessment abilities. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. - Minimum of 10–12 years of experience in reliability or NERC compliance within the utilities industry. - Certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), NERC CIP certification, or equivalent are strongly preferred. ---
