Job Description
**Job Title** Chief of Security **Role Summary** Directs all security operations across acute care, off‑site licensed facilities, behavioral health, clinics, and administrative sites to ensure a safe, threat‑free environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Oversees policy development, risk management, technology integration, and staff training while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. **Expectations** - Maintain security incident response times and crime metrics below industry benchmarks. - Achieve above‑target employee perceptions of safety and experience. - Align security strategy with organizational mission, values, and risk appetite. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead a system‑wide security program, including staffing, technology (video surveillance, access control, alarms, software), and processes (incident reporting, data analysis, budgeting, maintenance). - Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and implement monitoring/control measures. - Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies. - Conduct investigations, threat assessments, and event reconstructions. - Develop, coach, and retain security managers, supervisors, and site leads. - Manage policy development, root‑cause analysis, process improvement, and training initiatives. - Build relationships with leadership teams and stakeholders (HR, IT, Risk Management, Facilities, Compliance, Audit). - Report operational metrics, cost controls, and security outcomes to executive leadership. - Oversee emergency preparedness and threat management activities. **Required Skills** - Strategic leadership and decision‑making in high‑risk environments. - Risk assessment, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. - Incident investigation, crime prevention, and threat assessment. - Staff development, coaching, and performance management. - Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management. - Proficiency with security technologies (video surveillance, access control, alarm systems). - Data analysis, reporting, and financial oversight (budgeting, resource allocation). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field (required). - Master’s degree in a related field (preferred). - 10–15 years of experience in law enforcement, public safety, or healthcare security. - 3–5 years of management experience in a public safety or healthcare setting. - Demonstrated successful supervisory experience in a related field.
