Job Description
Job title: Intern – Reduction of GHG Emissions during Composting via Additives Role Summary: Conduct laboratory and field experiments to assess the effectiveness of selected additives in reducing nitrogen volatilisation during sheep manure composting at a semi‑industrial scale. Expactations: • 3‑month internship, non‑renewable. • Compensation: €630 net/month. • Must own vehicle; public transport not available. Key Responsibilities: 1. Set up and operate the composting platform for experimental runs. 2. Monitor nitrogen volatilisation using the internally developed passive sampler. 3. Evaluate the performance of each additive in reducing ammonia and nitrous oxide emissions. 4. Measure and analyse changes in biological activity throughout the composting phase. 5. Compile data, perform statistical analysis, and prepare technical reports. Required Skills: • Detail‑oriented, precise experimental technique. • Ability to adapt quickly to changing experimental conditions. • Proficiency in analytical chemistry methods pertinent to composting (e.g., gas sampling, spectrometry, chromatography). • Basic lab instrumentation handling and calibration. • Effective written and oral communication of technical findings. Required Education & Certifications: • Bac +2/3 (associate‑degree level) in Analytical Chemistry, Agronomy, or related field. • Knowledge of composting processes and greenhouse gas measurement principles. • Good command of French and English for technical documentation.
