Based in Brixworth Northamptonshire at a purpose built Mercedes-Benz Technology centre we are a highly talented, professional and ambitious team of people, responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and racing of Formula 1 power units for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS, McLaren, Williams and Aston Martin.

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains also undertake advanced, high technology projects in order to transfer F1 technologies into mainstream automotive and high performance road cars. The most significant programme at present is the design, manufacture and testing of a hypercar power unit for the Mercedes-AMG Project One vehicle.

These traits have seen the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 Turbo Hybrid Power Units to achieve consecutive F1 World Drivers Championships from 2014 to 2020, securing a record breaking eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships.

Job Description
**Job Title:** Software and Controls Placement (Graduate Rotation Programme) **Role Summary:** 12‑month graduate placement rotating across Formula 1 and Advanced Technology divisions. Participants will develop and implement calibration and control system innovations for high‑performance power units and electric drive technologies, support chassis‑power‑unit integration, and design test rigs to validate components and simulations. **Expectations:** - Curious, tenacious, and driven in a fast‑paced environment - On track to achieve a 2:1 (or above) in Software, Controls, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline - Strong academic foundation in maths or sciences (A‑Level or equivalent) - Hands‑on engineering experience complementing academic studies - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Self‑motivated, adaptable, creative, and willing to challenge and be challenged **Key Responsibilities:** - Define, develop, and deliver calibration and control system solutions for Formula 1 power units and Mercedes EV prototypes (e.g., EQXX) - Contribute to mechatronics and chassis engineering tasks, including Power‑Unit integration and ERS pack development (electronic & mechanical) - Design, build, and operate test rigs to simulate racetrack conditions and push power‑unit components to their limits; validate simulation models - Participate in Advanced Technology Software projects focused on performance, efficiency, and sustainability of electric drives - Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and document technical work for knowledge transfer - Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools **Required Skills:** - Solid understanding of engineering first principles and control theory - Proficiency in software development and control algorithms (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python) - Knowledge of electrical/electronic hardware, mechatronics, and power‑train systems - Experience with testing, data acquisition, and analysis tools - Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities - Effective teamwork and communication skills **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in or recently completed a BEng/MEng degree in Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field (2:1 or higher) - Relevant A‑Level or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and/or Sciences - Eligibility to pursue Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) (preferred)

**Job title** Facilities Engineering (Electrical) Graduate **Role Summary** Graduate engineer responsible for supporting electrical and mechanical infrastructure projects across a high-performance powertrain research centre.
