Job Title: Chief Data Officer
Role Summary: Lead the strategic direction of enterprise-wide data management, governance, and analytics to transform cancer care, enhance personalised medicine, drive operational excellence, and support breakthrough research through AI, predictive modeling, and population health insights.
Expactations: Deliver data‑driven transformation at the executive level, influence multidisciplinary teams, champion ethical and equitable data use, build a data‑literate culture, and maintain alignment with national health priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a Trust‑wide data strategy aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan and national initiatives.
- Drive innovation in AI, predictive modeling, and population health analytics to support clinical and operational decision‑making.
- Oversee data governance, architecture, and quality across all systems, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Enable secure, ethical data sharing with national bodies, academia, and industry partners to reduce health inequalities.
- Support research and clinical trials by providing high‑quality, curated data sets.
- Cultivate a data‑literate workforce, delivering training and fostering a culture that uses data for improved care.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to unlock real‑world data for cancer research and care.
Required Skills:
- Proven senior data leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or public sector.
- Strategic insight and technical expertise in data platforms, governance, and analytics.
- Experience with AI, predictive modeling, and population health analytics.
- Strong program management, executive communication, and stakeholder influence skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and promote a culture of data governance and ethical data use.
- Commitment to equity, sustainability, and advancing patient outcomes through data.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
- Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or equivalent.
- Knowledge of NHS data governance standards and health data regulations.
