Job Description
Job title: QA Engineer Role Summary: Consumer‑focused QA Engineer responsible for ensuring high quality across Nexus Mods’ web and desktop products through exploratory and automated testing, risk identification, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Expectations: • Self‑driven, proactive, and collaborative mindset. • Curiosity, skepticism, and a problem‑solving attitude. • Ability to learn and grow automation skills with support from the team. • Excellent communication of quality concerns and trade‑offs. Key Responsibilities: • Identify risks, gaps, and advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle. • Own and improve testing processes, aligning with product strategy and streamlining workflows. • Design, execute, and document functional and non‑functional test plans for website and desktop application. • Build and maintain automated end‑to‑end tests integrated into CI/CD pipelines. • Provide clear, actionable feedback to developers and contribute to discussions on feature behaviour and edge cases. Required Skills: • Experience in designing, writing, and executing test plans, even with limited formal requirements. • Sound understanding of software development life cycles and sprint activities. • Basic knowledge or exposure to automated testing tools; motivation to develop automation expertise. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Curiosity and a user‑centric approach to testing. • ISTQB Foundation Level certification required. Bonus Skills: • Experience with GitLab issue tracking. • Desktop application testing experience. • Automation with JavaScript/TypeScript (e.g., Playwright). • Knowledge of game modding or Nexus Mods ecosystem (optional, desirable). Required Education & Certifications: • ISTQB Foundation Level certification. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).
