Job Description
Job Title: Director of Research & Development (R&D) Role Summary: Lead the strategic and operational direction of R&D for industrial digital X‑ray solutions. Translate product vision into technology roadmaps, oversee end‑to‑end innovation projects, and develop a high‑performance team to deliver market‑ready products. Expectations: - Shape long‑term R&D vision aligned with growth goals. - Deliver projects on schedule, scope, and budget while maintaining quality. - Foster a culture of experimentation and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and market teams. - Stay ahead of technology trends and manage external research partnerships. - Influence cross‑functional stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels. Key Responsibilities: 1. Define and execute the R&D strategy and product roadmap in partnership with Product Management. 2. Lead new product development, technology upgrades, and enhancements to existing solutions. 3. Oversee all phases of R&D projects: planning, execution, risk mitigation, and delivery. 4. Manage a team of ~10 engineers and technicians; coach, allocate resources, and drive professional growth. 5. Coordinate with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service to ensure alignment of R&D outputs with market needs. 6. Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies; identify opportunities and threats. 7. Build and maintain relationships with universities, research centers, suppliers, and internal business units for collaborative innovation. Required Skills: - 15+ years progressive experience in R&D within high‑tech or engineering sectors. - Proven record of leading complex programs, launching products, and moving concepts to market. - Expertise across hardware domains: electronics, high‑voltage, mechanical, embedded software. - Strong project management, prioritization, and budgeting capabilities. - Excellent communication, influence, and collaborative mindset. - Fluency in English (mandatory); knowledge of French is highly desirable. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent technical field). - Professional certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or equivalent project management credentials are a plus.
