**Job Title:** Data Migration Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and execute large‑scale data migration initiatives within public sector environments. Lead end‑to‑end ETL processes, ensuring accurate, secure, and compliant data transfer from legacy systems to target platforms, while driving data quality and stakeholder alignment.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver migration projects on schedule and within scope.
- Own all technical tasks: extraction, transformation, validation, and deployment.
- Communicate risks, blockers, and status updates proactively to business, technical, and QA teams.
- Maintain rigorous documentation and adhere to data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Architect and implement ETL workflows for legacy‑to‑target data migration.
- Write and optimise complex MySQL queries for extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Apply comprehensive data quality framework (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity, uniqueness, integrity) throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Conduct data profiling, cleansing, and QA checks; provide actionable feedback to QA testers.
- Translate business requirements into data transformation rules and mappings.
- Maintain clear documentation of migration logic, data mappings, quality checks, and testing outcomes.
- Facilitate UAT support and resolve data‑related defects.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security (UK NPPV3 clearance), and regulatory mandates.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, architects, and case‑management system owners to align technical solutions with business needs.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong experience in large‑scale public sector data migration projects.
- Advanced SQL development in MySQL; proficiency in query optimisation.
- Solid knowledge of ETL concepts, data transformation, and workflow design.
- Practical application of data quality dimensions and validation techniques.
- Familiarity with case‑management systems and their data structures.
- Excellent problem‑solving, ownership, and independent work capabilities.
- Stakeholder engagement, risk reporting, and QA support experience.
- UK NPPV3 Security Clearance with at least 12 months remaining.
**Desirable Skills (Optional):**
- Oracle database experience.
- Data modelling, warehousing, or integration tool expertise.
- Agile project delivery experience.
- Azure Data Factory proficiency and Azure cloud exposure.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven UK NPPV3 Security Clearance at least 12 months remaining.
- Relevant data migration or ETL certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Informatica, SQL Server Integration Services) are advantageous.
