Job title: Consultant – Automation & Digital Transformation
Role Summary:
Provide end‑to‑end digital transformation and automation consultancy for industrial clients across food, pharma, chemicals, metals, and consumer goods sectors, driving safety, efficiency, and quality improvements through PLC, SCADA/DCS, MES integration, and process redesign.
Expactations:
- Deliver fully designed, tested, and commissioned automation solutions that meet safety and performance targets.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment and knowledge transfer to enable sustainable change.
- Quantify and report on project impact (downtime reduction, yield improvement, reproducibility).
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze plant processes and identify automation opportunities for safety, efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Translate business and operator requirements into technical architecture (PLC logic, SCADA/DCS design, communication, MES/ERP integration).
- Design, program, test, and validate control systems; conduct FAT/SAT, commissioning, and post‑go‑live support.
- Lead workshops and meetings to clarify requirements, explain technical concepts, and secure stakeholder consensus.
- Collaborate with MES consultants, data engineers, and process engineers to build cohesive digital transformation roadmaps.
- Ensure solutions adhere to safety, sustainability, and maintainability standards.
- Provide training, coaching, and documentation to end users and technical teams.
- Measure project performance metrics and communicate results to clients.
Required Skills:
- Strong industrial automation experience (PLC, SCADA, DCS – Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, ABB, Emerson, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of control logic, field instrumentation, I/O, communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA).
- Ability to design and review automation architectures and integrate with MES, historians, or ERP systems.
- Problem‑solving and solution‑translation aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset; comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in English; Dutch fluency an advantage.
- Knowledge of industrial IT/OT, cybersecurity fundamentals, and network topologies is a plus.
- Scripting or data manipulation (Python, SQL) beneficial but not required.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications in PLC, SCADA, DCS, or automation platforms preferred (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider).
- Relevant consulting or client‑facing experience desirable.
