Job Description: **Job Title:** Backend Developer **Role Summary:** Develop and maintain backend services for a digital inspection platform that analyzes electrical grid imagery to detect equipment defects. Lead all stages of the software life cycle—from planning and coding to deployment, monitoring, and optimization—within a microservices architecture. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, scalable, and reliable code that supports both new features and ongoing platform maintenance. - Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. - Operate in an agile environment, ensuring timely resolution of issues and continuous improvement of engineering practices. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python (or similar). - Implement and manage Kafka streams and other messaging solutions for large‑scale data processing. - Build, containerize, and deploy services with Docker and orchestrate them via Kubernetes. - Set up monitoring, alerting, and logging for microservices to guarantee system health and performance. - Troubleshoot production incidents, investigate root causes, and apply fixes promptly. - Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and documentation efforts. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of experience as a backend developer in large‑scale data environments. - Strong proficiency in Python; experience with TypeScript is a plus. - Hands‑on experience with Kafka, microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with GIS concepts is an advantage. - Demonstrated problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, and proactive teamwork. - Excellent written and spoken English; proficient communication in a cross‑functional team. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. - (Optional) Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or container orchestration are welcomed.
