**Job Title** Housing Standards Technical Advisor **Role Summary** Provide first‑line support to the Housing Standards Team by handling enquiries, conducting financial eligibility assessments for Disabled Facilities Grants and other housing assistance, processing grant/loan applications, and managing programme administration (e.g., Handyperson Scheme, Property Hardening Programme). Deliver administrative support to senior management and coordinate cross‑agency communications to keep cases on track. **Expactations** - Deliver accurate, timely work within strict deadlines. - Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. - Manage competing priorities effectively. - Handle sensitive or contentious issues with professionalism and discretion. - Communicate clearly with vulnerable individuals and external partners. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Serve as the initial point of contact for all Housing Standards enquiries. 2. Perform financial assessments to determine applicant eligibility for Disabled Facilities Grants and other assistance. 3. Process, review, and advance grant and loan applications through the approval pipeline. 4. Coordinate payments and financial approvals, ensuring compliance with policy and deadlines. 5. Provide programme support for key initiatives (Handyperson Scheme, Property Hardening Programme, etc.) including casework coordination and administrative oversight. 6. Liaise with field officers to ensure smooth progression of cases. 7. Offer senior‑manager administrative support: diary management, meeting coordination, and related tasks. 8. Maintain accurate and confidential records, adhering to data protection and safeguarding standards. **Required Skills** - Strong numeracy and literacy skills. - Proficiency with standard office IT applications (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint). - Excellent organisational and multi‑tasking abilities. - Attention to detail and high accuracy. - Effective communication (written and verbal) across diverse audiences. - Ability to handle complex information with discretion. - Initiative and problem‑solving under pressure. - Experience working with vulnerable populations and external agencies. **Required Education & Certifications** - No specific degree required; relevant experience in a high‑volume administrative or customer‑service environment is essential. - Adequate academic qualifications (e.g., GCSE/ A‑level equivalent in maths and English). - Certification in administration, finance, or housing‑related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.
