**Job title**
System Engineer – Network & Security
**Role Summary**
Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the global network and security infrastructure for an international maritime and offshore business. Ensures high‑performance network operation, robust data centre performance, and proactive cybersecurity across distributed offices, ships, and remote sites. Acts as the final support tier within the ICT team, troubleshooting escalated network and security incidents and driving continuous improvement projects.
**Expectations**
- Deliver and sustain secure, scalable network solutions in line with corporate standards.
- Provide timely, effective resolution of service tickets and escalated technical issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Technical Support, Infrastructure, Projects) to support new deployments and upgrades.
- Maintain updated documentation, configuration baselines, and asset inventories.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, configure, and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and SSL/TLS solutions (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5).
- Manage WAN connectivity, security perimeter, and network segmentation across multiple sites and vessels.
- Patch, upgrade, and monitor network and security devices; conduct vulnerability assessments and remediate findings.
- Lead network performance tuning, capacity planning, and incident response activities.
- Troubleshoot complex network and security problems, escalating when necessary; furnish detailed root‑cause analyses.
- Produce and update technical documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Support global projects by providing network and security expertise during planning, design, and implementation phases.
**Required Skills**
- In‑depth knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and firewall technologies (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
- Hands‑on experience with F5 BIG‑IP, SSL/TLS, VPN technologies, and network monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication in English; Dutch proficiency is required.
- Project‑oriented mindset with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in network and/or security administration.
- Relevant vendor certifications preferred: CCNA/CCNP, Aruba Certified Network Technician (ACNT), Fortinet NSE (NSE 4/5), Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), F5 Certified Technology Associate (F5-CTA).
