About the Company

When homes are affordable and accessible to jobs, good schools and transportation, everyone benefits. Individual lives are improved and communities as a whole grow stronger. Virginia Housing was created in 1972 by the General Assembly to help Virginians attain quality, affordable housing. We carry out this mission by working in public-private partnerships with local governments, community service organizations, lenders, Realtors, developers and many others.

We provide mortgages for first-time homebuyers, as well as financing for apartment communities and neighborhood revitalization efforts. We offer free homebuyer classes, support housing counseling, and help people with disabilities and the elderly make their homes more livable. We also administer the federal Housing Choice Voucher and Housing Credit programs in Virginia.

Virginia Housing is self-supporting and receives no state taxpayer dollars to fund our programs. Instead, we raise money in the capital markets, and we contribute a significant portion of our net revenues each year to help meet Virginia’s most difficult housing needs.

Job Title
Communications Intern
Job Description
<think> Okay, let's see. The user wants me to normalize a job description into a concise mini-job profile for job matching. They specified to exclude company details, location, benefits, and fluff. First, I need to read through the job description carefully. The title is "Communications Intern". The role is at Virginia Housing, but I shouldn't include company details, so I'll omit the company name and any info about being a premier agency or their mission. The intern will help with communications tasks like marketing, PR, event planning, etc. I need to extract the role summary. The key points are: support communications department, hands-on experience in marketing, PR, event planning, creative development. Responsibilities include market research, social media monitoring, data analysis. The summary should be concise. Expectations: The application must be available full-time for the internship period (July 6, 2026 to June 30, 2027). It's a paid internship at $19/hr. But the user says to exclude benefits, so maybe keep the duration and availability but not the pay rate. Key responsibilities: Assist with market research, social media monitoring, data analysis, and other projects. Also, support in marketing, PR, event planning. Need to present these as bullet points but the user said to avoid fluff, so maybe just list the main tasks. Required skills: High school diploma or GED. Academic background or interest in Communications, PR, Marketing. Excellent communication and teamwork, attention to detail. Experience in professional setting. Proficiency in MS Office. Ability to adapt to fast-paced environment. Also, the hybrid position, but the user said to exclude location, so maybe just mention the availability. But the user also said to be ATS-friendly, so maybe include "Availability for full internship period" as an expectation. Education and certifications: High school diploma or GED. No other certifications mentioned except the background screening and other forms, but the user wants to exclude fluff, so probably not necessary to include those. Wait, the user also mentioned not to include location. The original job mentions hybrid with reporting to Richmond, VA. Should I omit that? Yes. Also, the hybrid status might be important for work environment. But the user says to exclude location, so maybe just mention hybrid work arrangement if it's a required skill. Hmm, but in the required skills, it's more about skills and education. Wait, the user wants "Required Education & Certifications". So High school diploma or GED is there. Also, maybe the hybrid work setup is part of expectations. But the user said to exclude location. Let me check the original job description again. It says "This is a hybrid (in-person & remote) position reporting to our Richmond VA office." But since the user wants to exclude location, maybe mention hybrid work environment as part of expectations? Or maybe not. The user wants only the required education and certifications. So perhaps just the high school diploma or GED. Wait, the required skills include ability to adapt to dynamic, fast-paced environment. Also, availability for the full internship period. So the expectations would be: Availability for full internship period (July 2026 - June 2027) and the required availability hours (20h/week Sept-May, 40h during summer). But the user wants to exclude fluff, so maybe just mention the availability for the full period. But the user also wants it ATS-friendly. Maybe include the availability and the hours as part of expectations. So, putting it all together: Job Title: Communications Intern Role Summary: Support multifaceted communications department tasks, including marketing, public relations, event planning, and creative development. Gain hands-on experience in market research, social media monitoring, data analysis, and project support. Expectations: Must be available full-time for the entire internship period (July 2026 to June 2027). Up to 20 hours/week Sept-May, up to 40 hours/week June-August. Key Responsibilities: Assist with market research, social media monitoring, and data analysis. Support marketing, PR, event planning, and creative projects. Prepare content for communications materials. Analyze and report on social media engagement. Collaborate on event coordination and public relations initiatives. Required Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong teamwork and collaboration. Attention to detail. Experience in professional setting. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Adaptability in dynamic work environment. Required Education & Certifications: High school diploma or GED. Academic background or interest in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field. Wait, the original job says "High school diploma or GED." That's the required education. The academic background or interest is part of the expectation, but in the required education section, should that be included? No, maybe that's part of expectations. Hmm, perhaps in the Required Education section, we have "High school diploma or GED". For the skills, we include "Fields of study in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related disciplines". Wait, the user wants Required Education & Certifications. So the "academic background or demonstrated interest in Communications..." would be part of the education? Or skills? The original required skills include "A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline." But the user wants to separate education and skills. So perhaps the academic background or demonstrated interest is part of the education section. However, the education requirement is High school diploma or GED. So maybe include that in Required Education and the academic background/demonstrated interest in the skills. But in the user's sample structure, they have "Required Education & Certifications" which in this case would be the high school diploma or GED. The academic background is part of the role requirements but maybe under expectations. Hmm, the user wants "Expectations" as a separate section. Wait, in the example given, for "Expectations", the user includes "Availability for full internship period (July 2026 to June 2027)." So maybe the academic background or interest in the field is part of the required skills or required education? The original job says: "A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Communications..." So that's part of the required education? Or maybe not. Maybe it's part of the role summary or expectations. This is a bit tricky. Let me check the instructions again. The user wants to exclude fluff and keep it factual. So, the minimum education is High school diploma or GED. So that's Required Education. The academic background or interest is part of the expectations or required skills. The user's example shows in "Expectations" things like availability. But perhaps the academic background is part of the "Expectations" section. For example, under Expectations, list "Must be enrolled in or have completed a degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field, or demonstrate a strong interest in these areas." But the original job says "A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in..." So that's part of the requirements. Since the user wants to divide into sections, perhaps Required Education is "High school diploma or GED" and the academic background/demonstrated interest is part of Required Skills. But the instruction says "Include Required Education & Certifications". So the academic part is maybe considered part of the education. Hmm. Alternatively, the Required Education is High school diploma or GED, and the academic background is part of the required skills. So for Required Skills, include "Background or interest in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related fields." I think that's the way to separate them. So the final sections would be: Role Summary: Support communications tasks including marketing, PR, event planning. Gain experience in market research, social media, data analysis. Expectations: Must be available for the full internship period (July 2026 - June 2027). Work up to 20 hours/week (Sept-May), 40 hours/week during summer. Key Responsibilities: Assist with market research, social media monitoring, data analysis. Support marketing, PR, event planning, creative projects. Prepare content. Analyze social media engagement. Event coordination. Required Skills: Excellent communication. Teamwork. Attention to detail. Professional experience. MS Office proficiency. Adaptability in fast-paced environment. Interest in communications field. Required Education & Certifications: High school diploma or GED. Academic background or interest in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related field (maybe part of the education or skills?). Wait, in the user's example input, the job says "A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline." That's part of the role requirements. Since the user wants to exclude company details and fluff, but includes necessary skills. So maybe in Required Education & Certifications, include the academic part. But it's not a certification. It's an academic background. So perhaps include both the high school diploma and the academic background. But the user may want the Required Education to be High school diploma or GED, and the academic background as part of the role summary or expectations. Alternatively, under required education, maybe include both. However, the exact instruction says "Required Education & Certifications", so perhaps the academic background is part of education. Alternatively, since the user wants to keep it concise and ATS-friendly, maybe include the academic part under Required Skills. But the problem is that academic background is different from skills. Maybe it's better to list "Fields of study in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related disciplines" under Required Skills. That way, the Required Education is "High school diploma or GED" and the Required Skills include the academic or interest in the field. I think the user wants it split into sections as per the
