Job Description
**Job Title:** Property Solicitor **Role Summary:** Delivery-focused in‑house solicitor supporting the full property development lifecycle. Manages site acquisitions, disposals, plans, lettings, sales, and asset management while mitigating legal risk and ensuring contractual compliance. Operates under tight deadlines, liaises with commercial stakeholders, and drives process efficiencies. **Expectations:** 4–8 years PQE, strong real‑estate transaction experience, proven drafting & negotiation skills, evidence of in‑house practice, and the ability to handle multiple high‑volume matters with clear, pragmatic advice. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage acquisitions and disposals: title review, due diligence, conditions precedent, and completions. - Draft, negotiate, and administer conditional contracts, options, overage agreements, development agreements, and associated documents. - Support lettings/sales: lease agreements, variations, licences, and landlord‑tenant matters. - Provide property‑risk advice: title defects, easements, restrictive covenants, access, utilities, and environmental issues; escalation of higher‑risk matters. - Coordinate planning workstreams: legal input on conditions, liaise with external counsel, and monitor risk dependencies. - Draft and review commercial contracts (professional services, agency, marketing, NDAs) and provide governance/execution support. - Manage external counsel: instructions, cost control, quality, and responsiveness. - Prioritise work, set realistic timelines, communicate status, and develop templates, playbooks, and checklists. **Required Skills:** - Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) - 4–8 years post‑qualification experience - Real‑estate transaction and property‑development exposure - Excellent drafting and negotiation abilities - Strong commercial judgment and risk management - High‑volume case management and organisational skills - Stakeholder influence and clear advice delivery - Experience with BTR, residential, regeneration, mixed‑use, or asset‑management contexts - Prior in‑house legal experience **Required Education & Certifications:** - Qualified solicitor (UK Qualified Lawyer) - 4–8 years PQE (post‑qualifying experience) - No additional certifications required, though knowledge of property‑law regulations and local planning legislation is advantageous.
