Senior Associate – New Business
**Role Summary**
Lead the initial assessment, coordination, and progression of inward investment enquiries, ensuring each opportunity aligns with the organisation’s investment strategy. Serve as the first point of contact, prepare decision‑support papers, maintain accurate records, and report trends to senior leadership.
**Expectations**
- Manage inbound investment enquiries efficiently and professionally.
- Assess strategic fit, gather necessary information, and recommend approvals or declines.
- Produce and present New Business Forum papers; maintain accurate CRM records.
- Generate and analyse enquiry volumes, trends, and outcomes for executive reporting.
- Coordinate the investment pipeline with senior originators and leadership.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders and represent the organisation at events.
- Line‑manage a junior associate, coaching and developing the team.
- Drive continuous improvement of new‑business processes and systems.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Act as first point of contact for all new inward investment enquiries.
- Evaluate each enquiry’s strategic fit against mission and investment strategy.
- Proactively collect applicant information to support early‑stage assessment.
- Prepare and present risk, impact, and recommendation papers for the New Business Forum.
- Record all enquiries, communications, and decisions in the CRM system.
- Produce management information on enquiry volumes, trends, and outcomes for CEO, Executive Team, and Board.
- Coordinate pipeline prioritisation with senior originators and investment leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with external market stakeholders, especially enterprise agencies.
- Represent the organisation at external events, sharing insights on missions, impact, and investment approach.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Impact, Market Creation, Partnerships & Engagement) for sector and theme insights.
- Line manage one New Business associate, providing coaching, support, and on‑the‑job development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of new‑business processes, systems, and ways of working.
**Required Skills**
- Experience assessing and validating investment enquiries within banking, investment, or financial services.
- Sound understanding of debt and/or equity investments and decision‑making processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; confidence in engaging prospective clients and delivering sensitive decline decisions.
- Highly organised with demonstrable administrative skills; ability to manage multiple enquiries concurrently.
- Proficiency in CRM systems; Salesforce experience highly desirable.
- Proactive, hands‑on, and collaborative work style.
- Alignment with the organisation’s sustainability mission and desire to support economic and environmental ambitions.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- No mandatory certifications required; relevant investment or banking experience and knowledge of ESG frameworks are advantageous.
