Job Description
**Job Title:** Assistant Accountant **Role Summary:** Provide comprehensive accounting support to business owners and stakeholders on a 12‑month maternity leave contract, with potential transition to permanent role. Manage payroll, ledger, reconciliations, credit control, and financial reporting while collaborating closely with finance leadership and a consulting partner. **Expectations:** * Deliver accurate and timely financial processes. * Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and meet internal deadlines. * Demonstrate initiative and adaptability in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment. **Key Responsibilities:** * Process weekly payroll for direct and indirect contractors. * Manage purchase ledger, coordinate payment runs, and liaise with procurement. * Conduct bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations within agreed timelines. * Oversee credit management, monitor outstanding balances, and produce income accrual analysis. * Prepare monthly management accounts and support financial reporting. * Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities. * Maintain financial records in compliance with corporate guidelines. * Provide general administrative support to the finance team. **Required Skills:** * Strong accounting and bookkeeping proficiency. * Proficiency in payroll systems and accounting software. * Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities. * Attention to detail and accuracy. * Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Proactive problem‑solving mindset. **Required Education & Certifications:** * Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a comparable accounting role. * Knowledge of ACCA, ATT, CIMA or equivalent desirable, but not mandatory. ---
