Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Job title: Senior Software Engineer Role Summary: Lead the design, development, and delivery of high‑performance, cloud‑based applications supporting critical national infrastructure in the renewable energy sector. Provide technical leadership, mentor peers, and influence architecture and engineering standards. Expactations: • Own technical direction and architectural decisions for backend services. • Deliver clean, scalable code and maintain high standards of quality. • Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers. • Collaborate tightly with Product, QA, and DevOps to keep release cadence. • Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and scalability. Key Responsibilities: - Build and scale cloud‑based, high‑performance applications. - Develop backend services in Python/Django; work with TypeScript/JavaScript as required. - Design APIs and microservice architectures that meet scalability and reliability goals. - Provide technical leadership, including code reviews and architecture reviews. - Optimize database and service performance. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Product, QA, DevOps) to deliver features on time. - Implement CI/CD pipelines and maintain agile development practices. Required Skills: - Strong Python/Django expertise. - Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript. - Proficiency in one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Deep understanding of APIs, microservices, and scalable system design. - Experience with technical design and architecture decision‑making. - Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach engineering teams. - Familiarity with CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and modern dev‑ops practices. - Solid database design and query optimisation experience (SQL & NoSQL). Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Developer) are advantageous.
