Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (H/F)
Role Summary: Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the enterprise data platform, ensuring robust data pipelines, optimized data warehouse models, and reliable BI tooling across the organization.
Expectations: Own the technical architecture, drive automation and DevOps practices, manage Azure resources and FinOps, mentor the data team, and act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external vendors to meet data quality, governance, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate the Azure-based data architecture (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, integration services).
- Develop, test, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, ensuring efficient data ingestion and transformation.
- Manage platform health, perform maintenance, and update technical documentation.
- Own the data modeling lifecycle: design, refine, and document schema for the warehouse and inter‑application interfaces.
- Handle ticketing, troubleshoot issues, and deliver timely resolutions in a production environment.
- Participate in data domain governance: define policies, enforce security controls, and maintain compliance.
- Drive project planning, budget oversight, and scheduling for the data portfolio.
- Conduct technology scouting, evaluate emerging tools, and recommend improvements.
Required Skills
- 5+ years in data architecture or data engineering roles.
- Expertise in data warehouse, data lake architectures, and dataflow modeling.
- Advanced experience with Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT) and related Azure services (Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Azure Storage).
- Proficient in SQL (T‑SQL, PL‑SQL), query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of reporting tools (Power BI, Qlik, SAP BI).
- Familiar with DevOps practices for data pipelines (CI/CD, source control, automation).
- Project management capabilities: scope, budget, schedule, risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Continuous learning mindset; actively pursue technology updates in data engineering.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent experience accepted).
- Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP‑203), Azure Fundamentals, or similar data engineering credentials.
