Job Description
**Job Title:** Manufacturing Technician **Role Summary:** Perform precision assembly, inspection, testing, and analysis of micro‑components in a clean‑room, Lean manufacturing environment. Support prototype builds, develop manufacturing standards, and drive continuous improvement to deliver high‑performance optical switching products for communications, defence, and space sectors. **Expectations:** - Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and strict adherence to Health & Safety standards. - Work independently with minimal supervision while actively collaborating with engineers and production teams. - Proactively identify and implement process improvements. - Maintain accurate documentation and meet production schedules, including occasional overtime or weekend work. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assemble and inspect micro‑components and sub‑assemblies in a clean‑room setting. - Test finished products and sub‑assemblies for quality and functionality. - Troubleshoot equipment, device, and product issues. - Operate and calibrate production equipment using precision tools (calipers, micrometres, gauges). - Create and update Standard Work Instructions, batch records, productivity reports, and other documentation. - Support engineers in prototype builds, new product trials, and process development. - Manage inventory, prepare materials for builds, and package finished goods for delivery. - Install new equipment and verify safety system functionality. - Record production data in MES or Excel and ensure traceability of all work. **Required Skills:** - Strong hands‑on technical aptitude with experience in precision assembly and testing. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. - Proficiency with precision measurement tools and equipment calibration. - Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and/or MES data‑entry systems. - Excellent problem‑solving skills and adaptability to operational challenges. - Strong communication, teamwork, and proactive attitude toward continuous improvement. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. - Preferred: Technical or engineering diploma/certificate (e.g., Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology). - Clean‑room training or certification preferred. - Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, PPE training).
