Job Description
**Job Title** Civil and Structural Engineering Internship **Role Summary** A 6‑week full‑time (37.5 h/week) summer internship for penultimate year civil or structural engineering students. Interns participate in low‑carbon building design, bridge and historic building retrofit projects, structural analysis, and design optimisation within a multidisciplinary, sustainability‑focused consultancy. **Expectations** - Finish third year of a recognised master’s programme (ICE or IStructE accredited). - Demonstrate strong foundational knowledge of structural behaviour and design. - Apply hand calculations, sketching, and engineering software to solve structural problems. - Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiently. - Show passion for engineering, sustainability, and collaborative teamwork. - Be proactive, organised, and a clear communicator. **Key Responsibilities** - Analyse and design architectural structures, bridges, and retrofits of historic buildings. - Contribute to low‑carbon building design and green infrastructure projects. - Perform structural calculations, modelling and simulation using software tools. - Assist in design optimisation and digital engineering workflows. - Support project teams with documentation, presentations, and field observations. **Required Skills** - Structural engineering fundamentals (behaviour, load paths, safety calculations). - Proficiency in hand calculations, sketching, and structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE). - Strong technical writing and presentation skills in MS Office. - Effective teamwork, communication, and project coordination. - Initiative to learn and contribute across diverse project scopes. **Required Education & Certifications** - Penultimate year or equivalent of an accredited civil or structural engineering master’s degree (ICE or IStructE). - Expected graduation by 2027. ---
