Job Description
Job title: Summer Undergraduate Internship – IT Applications Development Role Summary: 8‑week internship focused on building, refining, and documenting a fully automated CI/CD pipeline for a .NET/Angular sample application using GitHub Actions, CodeQL, and Octopus Deploy. Interns will design build workflows, integrate security scanning, deploy to cloud or on‑prem environments, and present a final demo of the automated lifecycle. Expactations: • Availability for full 8‑week term and participation in workshops and activities. • Ability to work independently on legacy code remediation and pipeline construction. • Willingness to document processes clearly for handoff. • Adherence to HIPAA data security guidelines. Key Responsibilities: • Set up repeatable build pipelines with GitHub Actions to compile applications and produce deployable artifacts (ZIP, NuGet, etc.). • Analyze legacy code and build scripts using AI tools to identify blockers and perform refactors. • Integrate builds with Octopus Deploy to publish packages and trigger releases across environments. • Document pipeline architecture, workflow templates, and deployment flow. • Collaborate with senior engineers, QA, and build automation staff. • Deliver a working pipeline, comprehensive documentation, and a demo presentation of automated development lifecycle. Required Skills: • Knowledge of compiled languages (C#, Java, or C++). • Familiarity with Git-based source control (branching, committing, pull requests). • Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and artifact packaging. • Experience with scripting (Bash or PowerShell). • Ability to analyze logs, configuration files, and file systems. • Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills. • Comfortable working in Windows development environments. Required Education & Certifications: • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program (junior or senior). • GPA ≥ 3.0. • Preferred field of study: Software Engineering or related programs. • Certifications: Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or Jenkins; familiarity with GitHub Copilot; knowledge of Octopus Deploy is a differentiator.
