Job Title: Director of Retail Sales, Natural
Role Summary:
Lead the strategic growth of the Natural grocery channel, driving revenue, distribution, and velocity through data‑driven channel strategy, key account management, and partner relationships.
Expactations:
- Deliver year‑over‑year revenue growth and trade spend ROI targets.
- Expand retail footprint and increase product assortment and shelf placement.
- Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline, and KPI reporting.
- Foster strong relationships with retailers, brokers, and distributors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the Natural channel strategy, setting revenue, distribution, and velocity goals.
- Identify whitespace opportunities by region, retailer, and category using syndicated data (SPINS, Circana/IRI, Nielsen) and internal analytics.
- Lead annual planning: revenue forecasting, trade investment strategy, and budget management.
- Optimize assortment, pricing architecture, and promotional strategies to maximize ROI.
- Manage full sales cycle with key Natural retailers: prospecting, line reviews, presentations, negotiations, and execution of joint business plans.
- Oversee pricing strategy, promotional calendars, trade spend allocation, and performance monitoring versus plan.
- Build and maintain broker and distributor relationships, setting clear performance KPIs, managing deductions, disputes, and program participation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, QA, and R&D to align demand planning, supply, and product innovation.
- Represent the brand at industry events, provide customer training, and share insights with senior leadership.
- Mentor emerging sales talent and model a high‑performance, accountable sales culture.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical and financial acumen; ability to translate data into actionable strategy.
- Proven negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience managing Natural channel accounts, brokers, and distributors.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Highly organized, prioritizing and planning skills.
- Passion for food sustainability and mission-driven brands.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA a plus).
- 7–10+ years of CPG retail sales experience with significant Natural channel exposure.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering revenue growth and managing trade spend ROI.
