Job Title
STAGE – Chargé d'études Calcul Thermomécanique 3D (H/F)
Job Description
**Job Title** Intern – 3D Thermomechanical Analysis (H/F) **Role Summary** A 6‑month internship providing hands‑on experience in finite‑element modelling of reinforced concrete structures exposed to moderate thermal loads (≤ 300 °C). The intern will develop and enhance ANSYS-based analysis workflows, implement custom thermal boundary conditions, perform transient thermo‑mechanical simulations, and determine required reinforcement considering temperature‑dependent material degradation. **Expectations** - Deliver a fully functional 3‑D thermo‑mechanical model within project deadlines. - Produce reliable reinforcement designs for key load cases. - Validate the 3‑D model against a 2‑D reference solution. - Communicate progress clearly in weekly meetings and shared documentation. - Exhibit strong self‑management, organization, and collaborative attitude. **Key Responsibilities** - Extend the existing ANSYS library to support user‑defined thermal loading and generate appropriate post‑processing routines. - Run transient analyses incorporating degradation of concrete mechanical properties (elastic modulus, strength, steel‑concrete bond). - Derive required reinforcement for multiple critical steps, accounting for temperature‑induced material deterioration. - Compare calculated reinforcement with existing detailing to assess structural integrity. - Validate 3‑D results against a similar 2‑D thermo‑mechanical computation per Eurocode 2 and relevant RCC‑CW guidelines. - Prepare technical documentation, model descriptions, and analysis reports. - Attend monthly progress reviews with mentors and weekly team meetings to discuss findings and troubleshooting. **Required Skills** - Proficiency with ANSYS (APDL) for structural and thermal finite‑element modelling. - Scripting experience in Python for automation and post‑processing. - Solid understanding of reinforced concrete behaviour under temperature exposure. - Familiarity with Eurocode 2, RCC‑CW, and related technical guides (EDF, CEA, CETU). - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French is a plus). - Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. - Good organisational skills and punctuality. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrolment in an engineering degree (Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering) – final year or Master’s level. - Coursework covering structural mechanics, material science, finite‑element analysis, and programming. - Knowledge of structural design codes (Eurocode 2) and thermal analysis concepts. ---
