Job Description
Job title: Lead CAD/CAM Programmer Role Summary: Lead the design and execution of offline CNC programming using Edge CAM software for complex, high‑profile manufacturing projects, ensuring efficient, accurate toolpaths and production readiness. Expectations: Deliver consistent, high‑quality programming solutions that meet project specifications and timelines, collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, design, and production teams, mentor junior programmers, and continuously improve programming practices. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, validate, and maintain offline CNC programs in Edge CAM for a variety of machining operations. - Translate engineering drawings and CAD models into optimized, manufacturable toolpaths. - Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review design feasibility and propose machining solutions. - Lead or mentor junior CAD/CAM programmers, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting. - Perform simulation and verification of toolpaths to ensure collision‑free, efficient machining. - Optimize programs for cycle time, tool life, and material utilization. - Document programming standards, templates, and best‑practice guidelines. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CNC machine tool capabilities, firmware updates, and software releases. Required Skills: - Advanced proficiency in Edge CAM (offline programming) and related CAM tools. - In‑depth understanding of CNC machining processes, tool libraries, and machine tool dynamics. - Ability to interpret and translate CAD models (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc.) into robust toolpaths. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to troubleshoot and optimize programs. - Excellent communication skills for cross‑department collaboration and training. - Attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and compliance standards. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands‑on experience). - Professional certifications in CAM/CNC programming (e.g., Autodesk CAM, Edge CAM training, or equivalent) preferred.
