Web Developer – WordPress (H/F)
Role Summary
Lead technical design, development, and maintenance of a large-scale WordPress website refresh for an EU mobility organisation, integrating digital workplace and GED solutions.
Expectations
- Coordinate project milestones alongside the web project manager.
- Provide expert guidance on architecture, UX/UI, code reviews and vendor selection.
- Drive content integration, SEO-focused editorial alignment, and comprehensive testing (compliance, user acceptance, performance).
- Transition to production, sustain corrective maintenance, and implement a centralized documentation system.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project coordination, identifying risks and tracking progress.
- Architect WordPress tree structure, review design concepts, and develop front‑end/back‑end code.
- Conduct code reviews, validate external vendor choices, and provide technical approvals.
- Own end‑to‑end content migration, SEO‑aligned content creation, and editorial workflow.
- Execute functional, performance, and security tests; manage user testing sessions.
- Support production launch, monitor post‑launch issues, and perform corrective maintenance.
- Design and implement a technical, centralized documentation solution with IT.
- Train internal teams on WordPress tools, maintain documentation, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of WordPress development experience, with end‑to‑end website delivery.
- Deep knowledge of WordPress architecture, theme/custom plugin development, and CMS maintenance.
- Proficiency in front‑end (CSS, JavaScript, PHP) with a focus on code quality and best practices.
- Strong performance optimization skills (caching, CDN, lazy loading).
- Technical SEO expertise (schema, sitemap, meta, robots).
- Experience in iterative project management, vendor management, and handling UX/UI design proposals.
- Awareness of security standards and GDPR compliance.
- Comfortable using collaborative tools and ticketing systems.
Required Education & Certifications
- Higher education degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certificates in WordPress development, Web Development, or Agile Project Management are advantageous.
