Job Description
**Job Title** Junior SOC Analyst **Role Summary** Support the day‑to‑day operations of a Security Operations Centre protecting a UK critical national infrastructure (CNI) customer. Monitor, triage and investigate alerts across Azure and AWS environments, develop incident tickets, assist remediation, and contribute to SOC improvement. Requires existing security clearance (SC) and readiness for DV clearance. **Expectations** - Maintain 24/7 SOC vigilance for cloud‑hosted systems. - Deliver accurate incident categorisation and reporting. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and customer stakeholders. - Operate independently with minimal supervision. **Key Responsibilities** - Monitor and analyse alerts, log data and network traffic using the Protective Monitoring platform and Internet resources. - Triage, categorize, and investigate suspected incidents per Security Incident policy. - Identify intrusion attempts, compromises, and anomalous traffic (TCP/IP, cloud, OS). - Draft high‑quality incident tickets and comprehensive review reports with improvement recommendations. - Support remediation activities and incident response coaching for national‑scale incidents. - Utilize threat intelligence to contextualise and operationalise findings. - Contribute to SOC process development and service improvement based on customer needs. **Required Skills** - Basic Python and/or scripting; familiarity with Windows, macOS, Linux. - Experience with Splunk (including ES) and/or Microsoft Sentinel; content development desirable. - Strong understanding of network security architecture and threat intelligence (TTPs, actors). - Ability to investigate complex intrusions (state‑sponsored or ransomware). - Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure services. - Communication skills for stakeholder engagement, briefing, and report writing. - Self‑starter capable of independent work and cross‑cultural collaboration. **Required Education & Certifications** - Minimum of SC security clearance; prepared for DV clearance. - Relevant IT or cybersecurity degree or equivalent practical experience. - Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar are advantageous. ---
