Job Description
**Job Title** US Privacy Counsel (AI And Product) **Role Summary** Provide legal privacy counsel for AI‑driven product development. Drive privacy‑by‑design, translate regulatory requirements into actionable technical solutions, and manage all privacy‑related legal work to achieve compliance with data protection laws. **Expectations** - Partner with product, engineering, security, and other cross‑functional teams. - Proactively identify privacy risks and opportunities throughout the product lifecycle. - Manage drafting, reviewing, and negotiating privacy documents, including DPAs, privacy policies, LIAs, and DPIAs. - Conduct internal and external audits and coordinate with external consultants and legal advisers. - Monitor regulatory developments, case law, and best practices; disseminate insights internally. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Collaborate with product, engineering, and security to embed privacy‑by‑design principles. 2. Advise on data protection obligations, risk mitigation, and compliance strategy for AI and product initiatives. 3. Draft, negotiate, and approve data processing agreements, privacy policies, legitimate interest assessments, and data protection impact assessments. 4. Lead internal privacy audits and manage relationships with external privacy consultants and counsel. 5. Track evolving privacy legislation, case law, and industry best practices; produce compliance updates for stakeholders. 6. Act as the primary point of contact for privacy matters across business functions. 7. Support continuous improvement of data protection practices and tools. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of EU GDPR, US privacy laws, and emerging AI‑specific privacy regulations. - Strong drafting and negotiation skills for privacy documents. - Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical technical actions. - Audit execution and process improvement experience. - Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration. - Advanced reasoning and problem‑solving abilities rooted in first‑principles thinking. - Proficient in English (written and spoken). **Required Education & Certifications** - Law degree (LL.B., L.L.M., or equivalent) with admission to bar or equivalent legal qualification. - Prior experience leading privacy counsel in technology or AI product environments preferred. - Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or similar are an advantage.
