Job Description
**Job Title:** Data QA Engineer **Role Summary:** Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of data pipelines and machine learning model outputs through comprehensive manual and automated testing. Collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, and product teams to maintain high-quality data-driven products. **Expectations:** - Own end-to-end quality assurance for data pipelines and ML models. - Design, develop, and maintain robust test plans and automated frameworks. - Proactively identify, document, and resolve data quality defects. - Provide actionable feedback in code reviews and cross‑functional discussions. - Continuously improve testing processes and tooling. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and execute detailed test plans and test cases for ETL/ELT pipelines and ML model outputs. - Build and maintain automated test suites using SQL, Python, and relevant tooling (e.g., pytest, dbt, Airflow). - Perform thorough manual testing during initial development and complex feature releases. - Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to define data quality requirements. - Log, track, and manage bugs and quality issues through a defect tracking system. - Participate in code reviews from a QA perspective, ensuring data quality best practices. - Contribute to documentation of test strategies, data schemas, and quality metrics. **Required Skills:** - 2+ years QA experience focused on data‑driven products. - Strong SQL skills for data validation and consistency checks. - Proficiency in Python for test automation and data manipulation. - Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (ETL, star/snowflake schemas, data lakes). - Familiarity with machine learning concepts and model output evaluation. - Experience with automated testing frameworks (pytest, unittest, Airflow tests, DBT, etc.). - Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams and communicate technical findings clearly. - Problem‑solving mindset and meticulous attention to detail. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - ISTQB or similar QA certification preferred; Data Analytics or ML certifications are a plus.
