Job Title: Data Specialist
Role Summary:
Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data collection, parsing, reduction, and normalisation pipelines that feed security intelligence services. Works across on‑premise, hybrid, and cloud environments, ensuring data integrity, availability, and compliance while driving continuous improvement of data ingestion processes.
Expectations:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Strong background in computer science, computer engineering, or IT (degree preferred).
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in modern software engineering practices (code review, source control, testing, branching).
- Ability to collaborate in a Scrum‑based, cross‑functional team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement data pipelines for parsing, routing, and normalising log, metric, and trace data.
2. Integrate and optimize data flows between on‑premise, hybrid, and cloud systems.
3. Develop self‑monitoring mechanisms to guarantee data availability and completeness.
4. Build distributed data collection architecture and evaluate new streaming or message‑queuing technologies.
5. Conduct third‑party technology research for data acquisition and tool integration.
6. Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to enforce data integrity, compliance, and secure transmission.
7. Investigate incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement improvements to data collection services.
8. Contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices for data management.
Required Skills:
- Programming in Python (and familiarity with syslog, Cribl, or similar data‑management tools).
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration, stream processing, and message queuing (e.g., Kafka, NATS).
- Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable data ingestion architectures.
- Understanding of security intelligence pipelines and related threat‑intelligence concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or a closely related discipline (preferred).
- Professional certifications in data engineering, security, or cloud technologies are a plus (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, or relevant security certifications).
