EMEA Compliance and Data Protection Leader (m/f/d)
**Role Summary**
Lead the EMEA Compliance and Data Protection function, driving alignment with regional and global standards, including GDPR, Data Act, and AI Act. Oversee regional compliance policies, training, risk assessments, whistleblowing, and third‑party screening while managing data protection incidents and audits.
**Expectations**
- Set and execute regional compliance strategy in partnership with the Dematic Compliance Officer and KION Data Protection Officer.
- Foster a culture of integrity through education, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
- Deliver measurable compliance performance, risk mitigation, and data protection outcomes across EMEA.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop, maintain, and update regional compliance policies and procedures.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations: training (material creation), risk assessments, whistleblowing, third‑party screening (M&A), and conflict‑of‑interest checks.
- Advise business units on data protection matters, assess projects for GDPR, Data Act, AI Act compliance, and support processing activities and incident response.
- Draft, review, and update data protection documents (processing records, privacy notices, DPAs).
- Conduct data protection audits, deliver training, and monitor compliance across the region.
- Collaborate with legal, HR, IT, internal audit, sustainability, and internal investigations.
- Report compliance and data protection status to local MDs, boards, and regional leadership.
- Manage and develop a team of EMEA compliance representatives and data protection coordinators.
**Required Skills**
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, EU data protection laws, and international compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, structured, and solution‑oriented mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional language(s) a plus.
- Team leadership, stakeholder management, and assertiveness.
- IT affinity and awareness of emerging technologies and their data protection implications.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Law degree with successful completion of the first state examination (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in data protection, preferably in an international corporate setting.
- First‑hand experience with compliance and data protection tools (e.g., OneTrust) is desirable.
