Job Description
**Job title**: Head of Data Protection & Data Protection Officer (DPO) **Role Summary** Lead the development and operation of a forward‑thinking privacy strategy in a healthtech environment, ensuring compliance with data protection laws while enabling responsible AI and product innovation. Serve as in‑house DPO, partner with the CISO and senior leaders, and build a scalable privacy function. **Expectations** * Champion privacy as a business enabler. * Drive responsible AI implementation and data safeguarding. * Scale and mentor a high‑performing privacy team. * Influence senior leadership and external stakeholders on privacy matters. * Maintain regulatory knowledge and adapt practices to emerging trends. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Design and own the company’s privacy strategy, aligning with mission and regulatory requirements. 2. Guide the secure integration and rollout of AI/ML features, ensuring patient data protection at all stages. 3. Build, coach, and expand a privacy & data protection team; set roles, processes, and performance metrics. 4. Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, partners, and auditors. 5. Collaborate with product, technology, and clinical teams to embed privacy controls into product lifecycle. 6. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, balancing compliance with business speed. 7. Provide thought leadership on privacy best practices and emerging data ethics trends. **Required Skills** * Deep knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, NHS data compliance, and emerging healthtech regulations. * Proven experience leading privacy or data protection teams in a tech or health services context. * Expertise in responsible AI/ML deployment and data ethics. * Strong stakeholder influence and communication abilities. * Strategic thinker with a practical, business‑enabling mindset. * Ability to drive change in fast‑paced, scale‑up environments. **Required Education & Certifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Law, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field. * Advanced qualification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent) highly preferred. ---
