Job Description
**Job title**: Data Scientist Junior Internship – Demand Planning (Salomon) **Role Summary** Data Science Intern will support planners and merchandisers in modernizing reporting, automating workflows and building analytical tools that influence business decisions. Responsibilities include creating dashboards, optimizing Excel tools with Python/SQL, automating recurring reports, and assisting in demand‑planning models. **Expectations** * Deliver end‑to‑end analytical projects from requirement gathering to solution deployment. * Work autonomously on high‑impact projects with clear ownership. * Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (sales, merchandising, inventory). * Maintain documentation for tools and processes to ensure scalability. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Design, build and maintain automated reports and dashboards for sales, inventory, margin and performance metrics. 2. Simplify and partially replace complex Excel tools using Python, SQL or business‑intelligence (BI) solutions. 3. Automate recurring workflows (data extraction, transformation, consolidation, weekly/monthly reports, PowerPoint decks). 4. Enhance forecasting and demand‑planning tools (sales forecasts, inventory projections, scenario simulations). 5. Analyse large B2B/B2C datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and performance drivers. 6. Translate operational needs into analytical solutions and document tools/processes. 7. Optional projects: develop basic forecasting or machine‑learning models, create standardized datasets, compare forecast vs actual, optimise assortment/stock logic, introduce version control and analytics best practices. **Required Skills** * Strong Python proficiency (pandas, numpy, matplotlib or seaborn). * Advanced Excel (power‑user level). * Basic SQL knowledge (advantage). * Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar BI tools (highly desirable). * Familiarity with automation, optimisation and forecasting techniques. * PowerPoint automation/reporting experience (beneficial). * Fluent English (C1). **Required Education & Certifications** * Student or recent graduate in Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent. * Preferably at Master’s level (Bac + 4/5), but Bachelor’s level acceptable. * No specific certifications required.
