Job Description
**Job Title:** Robotics Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and integrate advanced software for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Work with C++, Python, and ROS/ROS 2 to deliver control, autonomy, perception, and mission‑critical capabilities for submersible robotic systems in challenging marine environments. **Expectations:** - British citizenship or ≥5 years UK residency for Security Clearance. - Minimum 4 years experience in embedded/robotics software development. - Ability to collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and systems teams. - Deliver robust, modular code and maintain clear documentation. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and implement software for AUV/ROV platforms using ROS/ROS 2. - Integrate sensors (sonar, cameras, DVL, IMU) and actuators into modular control frameworks. - Develop autonomy algorithms: SLAM, path planning, adaptive control, real‑time obstacle avoidance (GNSS‑denied). - Build real‑time data acquisition, onboard processing, and underwater communication (acoustic/RF/optical). - Conduct hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations and sea‑trial testing for validation. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams for system integration. - Manage source control (Git/GitLab) and produce concise technical documentation. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in C++ and Python. - Strong experience with ROS/ROS 2 (middleware, node development). - Embedded systems development for robotics. - Sensor and actuator integration, real‑time systems. - Autonomy expertise: SLAM, navigation, mapping, planning. - Version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines. - Familiarity with Pixhawk or comparable flight controllers. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) in the UK.
