Job Description
**Job title:** IT Infrastructure / Applications Engineer **Role Summary:** Senior third‑line IT engineer responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex technical incidents across on‑premises and cloud platforms, ensuring system stability, security, and performance for a global UK‑based customer base. **Expectations:** - Final escalation point for hardware, software, network, and cloud‑related incidents. - Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and global stakeholders to design, implement, and optimise infrastructure solutions. - Maintain high‑availability, compliance, and security standards across IT assets. **Key Responsibilities:** - Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents from 1st and 2nd line teams, minimizing business disruption. - Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 suite, Intune, and related cloud services (VMs, storage, networking, security). - Manage and optimise internal and external networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and Cisco product suites. - Lead root‑cause analysis for recurring/high‑impact incidents, implementing long‑term fixes and documenting findings. - Support server administration (Windows & Linux), virtualization (Hyper‑V, VMware), and scripting/automation (PowerShell). - Update and maintain technical documentation, knowledge bases, SOPs, and compliance records. - Mentor junior support staff and contribute to knowledge sharing. - Coordinate with suppliers and global teams on infrastructure projects and deployments. **Required Skills:** - Proven third‑line or senior technical support experience. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, 365, Intune; Windows and Linux server administration. - Networking expertise: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls; familiarity with Cisco gear. - Virtualization experience: Hyper‑V (VMware exposure a plus). - Scripting/automation: PowerShell. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and customer‑service skills. - Ability to manage technical projects spanning weeks to months. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Relevant IT degree or equivalent experience. - Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent Azure certifications. - Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP) highly desirable. - ITIL Foundation certification preferred. ---
