Job Description
**Job Title** Junior R&D IoT Engineer **Role Summary** Provide end‑to‑end engineering support for GemOne’s IoT platform, focusing on CAN bus integration, firmware development, and hardware prototyping. Own the design, testing, and validation of embedded solutions that power industrial telematics for fleet management. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality CAN and embedded firmware solutions within defined timelines. - Quickly assume ownership of CAN‑related tasks after initial training. - Continuously improve processes, challenge existing solutions, and propose enhancements. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and travel to the US as project demands. - Maintain a proactive, detail‑oriented work ethic and adhere to structured documentation standards. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, implement, and debug CAN bus interfaces on hardware platforms. - Develop firmware for embedded devices, using Python, C/C++, and Bash. - Read and interpret electrical schematics; perform measurements and diagnostics. - Assemble custom cabling and connectors in a hands‑on manner. - Validate prototypes against performance and safety requirements. - Document design decisions, test results, and configuration files. - Work with embedded Linux systems for data acquisition and networking. - Liaise with international team members and adapt solutions to diverse operational environments. **Required Skills** - 2‑5 years of relevant engineering experience. - Proficiency in Python and its ecosystem. - Strong grasp of bit‑level operations, endianness, signed/unsigned logic. - Ability to read schematics, measure, and diagnose electrical systems (automotive exposure preferred). - Competence in C/C++ for embedded applications (plus). - Experience with embedded Linux and Bash scripting. - Hands‑on aptitude for cable assembly and hardware troubleshooting. - Excellent attention to detail, quality focus, and structured workflow. - Critical mindset – willing to question and improve status‑quo solutions. - Proactive problem‑solving and initiative to propose and implement solutions. - Fluency in Dutch and English; cross‑border collaboration experience. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a closely related field. - Certifications in embedded development, IoT, or CAN bus (preferred but not mandatory).
