Job Description
**Job title** Research Farm Intern **Role Summary** Assist the Development Biology Team at the Technology Development Station with crop protection, agronomy research, breeding evaluations, and new technology field trials. Support on‑site and remote trial operations, data management, and collaborative projects across Alberta and potentially Saskatchewan. **Expectations** - Maintain safety and standard operating procedures. - Deliver accurate, timely data and documentation. - Exhibit self‑sufficiency while working effectively in a team. - Adhere to internship schedule (May 1 – Aug 31 2026) and be available for extended hours as required. **Key Responsibilities** - Coordinate and implement research and development programs under the station manager. - Plant, monitor, and care for field and greenhouse trials across multiple soil and cropping zones. - Operate small agricultural equipment (tractors, planters, tillage tools). - Manage trial data – collection, entry, analysis, and reporting to the Development Team. - Support customer‑focused activities such as field days in collaboration with sales and marketing. - Travel to remote sites, including overnight stays in Saskatchewan when necessary. - Participate in international project team meetings and collaborate with industry partners. **Required Skills** - Basic knowledge of Canadian field crop production and agronomic practices. - Familiarity with plant disease, weed, and pest management concepts. - Experimental design awareness and data‑management competence. - Strong attention to detail and organizational ability. - Effective written and verbal communication; capable of influencing and learning. - Team player with independent work capability. - Physical ability to lift ≥ 20 kg (50 lb). - Willingness to work extended hours and travel. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in a post‑secondary program in agriculture, biology, or related field (other science programs may be considered). - Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or higher). ---
