Job Description

**Job title:** Software Engineer Intern, Backend, Trading **Role Summary:** Interns will design and implement high‑performance components in Go for Talos’s Order Management System (OMS), contributing to algorithmic trading infrastructure and analytics. The role focuses on backend development, system optimization, and integration within a production trading environment. **Expectations:** - Deliver functional Go features within agreed milestones. - Provide clear design documentation and participate in architectural reviews. - Integrate analytics, monitor metrics, and iterate based on stakeholder feedback. - Demonstrate progress through regular demos and maintain transparent communication. **Key Responsibilities:** - Collaborate with the Trading team to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables. - Draft technical design documents and engage in architectural discussions. - Build, test, and deploy backend components in Go that enhance the OMS for optimal order execution. - Add and monitor performance metrics, ensuring measurable impact of changes. - Conduct unit and integration tests, and troubleshoot production issues as needed. - Present project status in bi‑weekly demos to engineering stakeholders. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in at least one compiled language (Go, C++, or Java). - Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL. - Familiarity with backend system design and micro‑service architecture. - Ability to write clean, maintainable code and produce solid unit tests. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. - Self‑driven, capable of working autonomously while collaborating in a team environment. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current enrollment in a Computer Science or related degree program, expected graduation Class of 2027. - Minimum one prior internship involving backend development in a production, user‑facing context. - Prior exposure to trading or financial systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
