**Job title:** Data Architect
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and govern end‑to‑end data architecture solutions for an insurance client. Define the data strategy, roadmap, and standards while aligning with business objectives. Lead technical oversight of data engineering and science efforts and ensure consistency, quality, security, and performance across the data ecosystem.
**Expectations:**
- Fluent in Dutch and/or French, with strong written and spoken English.
- Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or related).
- Minimum 5‑7 years of hands‑on data architecture or senior data engineering experience with demonstrated architectural responsibilities.
- Proficient in cloud data platforms (GCP or Azure), data modeling, SQL, Python, and DevOps/DataOps practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and communicate the vision, roadmap, and governance framework for data architecture.
- Design and implement scalable Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and other analytics infrastructure.
- Define data quality, security, performance norms, and establish metadata lineage and dictionaries.
- Mentor and guide Data Engineering/Science teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions and measure impact.
- Stay current with emerging data services, tools, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
**Required Skills:**
- Data architecture & design (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, dimensional modeling).
- Cloud platforms: GCP (Dataflow, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, etc.) or Azure (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Databricks).
- Programming: Python, SQL; performance tuning.
- Data governance, security, privacy, compliance.
- DevOps/DataOps: CI/CD pipelines, automation.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or related quantitative field.
- Certifications such as GCP Professional Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent preferred.
