**Job Title**
Head of Engineering, Technical Ship & Crew Management
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, development and delivery of high‑quality, secure, and scalable maritime software products. Own the technical execution strategy, guide engineering operations, and mentor managers to build high‑performing teams that meet product road‑maps on time and within budget.
**Expectations**
- Deliver complex customer‑facing systems at scale.
- Build a diverse, inclusive engineering culture focused on craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Design, Security, Architecture, and Operations.
- Balance innovation with standardization to control technical debt and risk.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Define and execute engineering strategy and resourcing in partnership with senior leaders.
- Build, mentor, and lead a distributed team of Development Managers and Engineers across multiple locations.
- Own end‑to‑end delivery for product road‑maps, ensuring predictable release cadence through estimation, capacity planning, and milestone reviews.
- Set coding standards, enforce code reviews, and maintain high documentation quality.
- Champion Agile delivery practices, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and observability.
- Collaborate with Architecture to evolve target architecture and guide major technical decisions.
- Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal to meet regulatory requirements.
- Manage headcount planning and performance management for engineering initiatives.
**Required Skills**
- 10+ years software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership of multi‑team organizations.
- Proven track record delivering large‑scale, customer‑facing systems.
- Deep expertise in Agile at scale, CI/CD, DevOps, cloud architecture, and observability.
- Experience with secure SDLC, automated testing, and reliability engineering.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication.
- Ability to recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing engineering talent.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or relevant security/DevOps credentials are a plus.
