Job Description
Job title: Underwriting Assistant Role Summary: Entry‑level support role focused on creating insurance quotes, completing partial entries, and mapping and entering data into the underwriting system. Provides analytical assistance to underwriters while maintaining data accuracy and efficiency. Expactations: - Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail. - Proactive learning of underwriting processes and terminology. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑moving environment. - Consistent adherence to confidentiality and data‑security standards. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and submit quotes and partial entries for insurance policies. - Accurately map and enter client and policy data into the underwriting system. - Verify completeness and accuracy of data before submission. - Assist underwriters with documentation, risk assessment inputs, and policy reviews. - Maintain organized records of entries and correspondence. - Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal teams to resolve data or information gaps. - Support ongoing system improvements and data quality initiatives. Required Skills: - Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - High proficiency in data entry and spreadsheet (Excel) use. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Knowledge of insurance underwriting concepts is a plus. - Ability to learn and navigate specialized underwriting software. - Detail‑oriented, with strong organizational and time‑management skills. - Team‑player capable of working cross‑functionally. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. - Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field preferred but not mandatory. - Professional certifications in underwriting or insurance (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are advantageous but not required.
