Job Description
Job title: Principal Financial Analyst Role Summary: Lead end‑to‑end financial management of clinical trial projects, ensuring profitability, accurate invoicing, and adherence to financial best practices. Provide strategic insight on change orders, forecasting, and portfolio optimization, while mentoring analysts and supporting audits and financial close processes. Expactations: Minimum 15 years of project finance experience (or 12 years with a master’s/CPA; 8 years with a PhD). Proven expertise in the CRO industry, strong command of the full accounting cycle, and advanced financial modeling. Ability to travel 5‑10 % for client/site visits. Key Responsibilities: - Lead project financials throughout lifecycle, managing budgets, profitability, and compliance. - Conduct portfolio analysis to drive financial strategy and value creation. - Monitor accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections and budget health. - Evaluate and manage change orders, advising on financial impact. - Prepare monthly invoicing and revenue recognition via ERP. - Forecast revenue with financial models and data analysis. - Coordinate monthly financial close with Accounting. - Support audits, ensuring accurate reporting and internal controls. - Conduct sponsor, vendor, and cross‑functional financial meetings (QBRs, negotiations). - Mentor and train junior analysts; contribute to team development. - Respond to CFO/VP operational finance queries and ad‑hoc analyses. - Drive process improvement and new workflow implementations. Required Skills: - Comprehensive knowledge of accounting cycle, project budgeting, profitability analysis, and contract review. - CRO industry experience and understanding of clinical trial financial life cycle. - ERP system proficiency and advanced Excel/PC skills. - Strong analytical, business acumen, and financial modeling capabilities. - Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication; ability to resolve issues and build stakeholder confidence. - Multitasking, cross‑functional collaboration, and independent planning. - Willingness to travel up to 10 % for client and office visits. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field. - CPA, MBA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred. - Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (or 12 years with master’s/CPA; 8 years with PhD). - ERP systems knowledge; experience with global study financials.
