**Job Title:** Platform Engineering Director
**Role Summary:**
Strategic leader responsible for defining and executing the vision, roadmap, and delivery of PayFit’s core engineering platforms. Drives platform‑as‑product mindset, ensuring reliable, secure, and developer‑friendly foundations that enable rapid, scalable product delivery across the organization.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver a unified, event‑driven platform that reduces time‑to‑market, total cost of ownership, and operational risk.
- Achieve measurable improvements in developer productivity, system reliability, and cost efficiency through clear OKRs and SLAs.
- Build and mentor high‑performing senior engineering teams across infrastructure, developer experience, low‑code, security, and procurement domains.
- Align platform initiatives with product, security, and finance priorities to generate tangible business outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Define long‑term platform strategy and architectural “north star” aligned with growth and scalability goals.
- Treat internal platforms as products: gather developer needs, prioritize road‑maps, and deliver outcomes.
- Lead multiple senior engineering teams; recruit, coach, and manage performance.
- Establish and track KPIs/OKRs for platform efficiency, reliability, developer speed, and cost control.
- Implement a production‑only operating model; streamline toolchains and decommission non‑production environments.
- Strengthen security‑by‑design practices and optimize vendor/licensing spend (e.g., AWS, GitHub).
- Foster cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Security, Finance, and other engineering leaders.
- Promote lean processes and continuous improvement across platform domains.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience (8+ years) leading large‑scale platform engineering organizations (in SaaS or enterprise environments).
- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (EKS/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and event‑driven architectures.
- Strong product management mindset for internal platforms; ability to translate developer needs into road‑maps.
- Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and mentor senior engineering teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; adept at aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Expertise in security‑by‑design, compliance, and cost‑optimization strategies.
- Data‑driven decision making with experience setting and measuring OKRs/KPIs.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Advanced degree (MSc, MBA) preferred but not required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Kubernetes Administrator) advantageous.
