**Job Title:** Senior Data Scientist – Short‑Term Power Trading
**Role Summary:**
Lead the development and delivery of advanced statistical, machine‑learning, and optimization models for short‑term power markets (day‑ahead, intraday, imbalance) across the CWE region. Act as a technical owner within the Quantitative Research and Modeling Center, translating market and trading needs into data‑driven solutions that improve forecasting, asset optimization, and trading algorithms while coordinating project execution with cross‑functional teams.
**Expactations:**
- Deliver high‑impact predictive and optimization tools that directly support Power Trading & Commercial business objectives.
- Ensure project milestones, risks, and deliverables are tracked and communicated effectively.
- Foster collaboration with traders, analysts, and IT to align technical solutions with business requirements and deployment architecture.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Design, build, and maintain statistical and machine‑learning models for price, volume, and imbalance forecasts.
2. Develop optimization algorithms for asset (e.g., battery) scheduling and trading strategy execution.
3. Enhance existing trading and optimization tools through continuous improvement and integration of large‑scale data sources.
4. Track project progress, report status, and manage risks; coordinate resources across stakeholders.
5. Interface with traders and analysts to gather requirements, validate models, and propose actionable insights.
6. Collaborate with IT/DevOps to ensure robust code versioning, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), and scalable deployment.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
- Proficient in Python (data processing, modeling libraries, scripting).
- Experience with version control (Git) and software development workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Solid understanding of power markets and energy trading concepts, particularly in the CWE region.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to convey complex technical ideas to non‑technical audiences.
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data science, quantitative analysis, or a comparable technical role.
- Fluency in English (working language).
