Job Description
**Job Title:** Embedded Engineer – Contract (Outside IR35) **Role Summary:** Design, develop and maintain scalable C++ embedded firmware on RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS) for next‑generation devices, primarily on ESP32 and i.MX8/9. Work independently to integrate drivers, test hardware interfaces, and debug complex system issues while collaborating with cross‑functional teams on architecture and integration. **Expectations:** - 4‑8 years of hands‑on embedded development experience. - Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. - Strong track record delivering quality firmware and documentation. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and maintain embedded C++ firmware for RTOS platforms. - Implement hardware interfaces via SPI, I2C, UART (RS232/RS485), Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet. - Collaborate with product, hardware, and software teams on system architecture and integration strategies. - Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software issues at the system level. - Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and documentation. - Align independent work with broader product goals and timelines. **Required Skills:** - Embedded C++ development. - Deep knowledge of microcontrollers and SoCs. - Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS or equivalent). - Proficiency in serial and network protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet). - Version control proficiency (GitHub). - Issue tracking and documentation tools (JIRA, Confluence). - Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. - Self‑motivated, independent work ethic. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent professional experience (not explicitly required but typical).
