Job Description
**Job title** SIG and Geomatics / Python Development Focus (Internship) **Role Summary** An internal development internship focused on magnetic data processing, QGIS geospatial workflows, and Python automation. The role blends technical debugging, code refactoring of AI-generated scripts, documentation of best practices, and collaboration with software teams to enhance data pipelines and tooling. **Expectations** * 6‑month internship at the end of a Master’s (M2) or engineering school program. * Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while communicating progress and issues. * Strong industrial context awareness and initiative‑driven mindset. * Mandatory written and spoken proficiency in English; French skills are a plus. * Commitment to deliver high‑quality, maintainable code and thorough documentation. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Process and analyze magnetic datasets acquired by field teams using proprietary and open‑source tools (QGIS, Python). 2. Identify, report, and resolve bugs in existing code, including AI‑generated code, and propose complementary features. 3. Refactor and clean code to improve debuggability, maintainability, and adherence to quality standards. 4. Document best practices for integrating generative AI tools into geospatial workflows. 5. Automate GIS data processing tasks with Python and relational databases. 6. Communicate insights, challenges, and solutions promptly to the software and operations teams. 7. Maintain rigorous data structuring and formatting across varied input and output formats. **Required Skills** * Deep experience with QGIS and geospatial information systems. * Proficiency in Python; familiarity with other programming languages accepted. * Ability to debug, refactor, and improve existing code, especially AI‑generated snippets. * Strong data cleaning, structuring, and transformation capabilities. * Knowledge of magnetic, electromagnetic, or geophysical signal processing is advantageous. * Basic understanding of statistics, machine learning, and relational databases. * Excellent written and verbal communication in French and English. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). **Required Education & Certifications** * Final‑year Master’s (M2) or engineering school student with relevant coursework in geospatial technology or computer science. * Fluency in English required; French language proficiency preferred.
